Happy #FBF everyone! Today we take a look back on warmer days, September 14, 2018 specifically. The sky was open, everything was bright and the happy couple had on the biggest smiles all day! This was the day two special people were going to say 'I do' in front of 140 family and friends. The day wouldn't have gone so smoothly without their tight wedding day team: Planning - Lady In Waiting Services Venue - Deerfield Golf Club Photography - Allen House Studios Videography - Vito Wedding Cake - Desserts by Dana Bridal bouquet and sweetheart table - Royal Weddings by Cathy Johnson Bridal Hair - Megan McLaughlin Makeup - Kym Alexus MUA Music- DJ Big Ant If I had to describe Ashley and Joseph's wedding, I'd say it was a classic wedding with modern glam touches. The couple chose to spend more attention on themselves, photography and the elements most important to them. With a beautiful venue like Deerfield Golf Club who will take care of your ceremony and catering needs, it is not required to go overboard with decor. Sometimes less is more. Ashley and Joseph taught me know matter what you go through during your planning process, everything will unfold exactly how it should. To do your very best not to sweat the small stuff and stay focused on the important things. Everything will turn out absolutely beautiful, you will be happy and as long as you have your new spouse after it's all said and done, that's all that matters. Help me wish this absolutely stunning couple a long life together and a beautiful marriage!

8.18.18 was a huge wedding date for 2018 and I had the honor of executing an Intimate Wedding for a beautiful couple. Brittany was a rare bride. She completely let go of all the nitty gritty details, she didn't want an ounce of stress that comes with wedding planning. Brittany inquired with us 4 months before her big day. She provided the important must-haves and had Jonathan, her groom, pick the catering and wedding cake. The pair had the opportunity to just worry about themselves and wait for the big day. What I admired most about these two is their dedication to focus on their new marriage instead of being consumed with wedding event particulars. Their beautiful wedding took place in a secret garden in Wilmington, DE where 35 of their closest family and friends gathered to watch to them exchange vows. Their ceremony was filled with love, compassion and commitment. Nothing could take away from their day, not even the impending rain. It literally down-poured just minutes after the ceremony; but you would never know because Celeste is just that awesome. You know what they say, rain brings luck to the new marriage. I must say all of the vendors were amazing and we all worked together beautifully for Brittany and Jonathan.
Special thanks to Caffe Gelato for the catering, Bing's Bakery for the cake, Ramone's Flowers for the summer florals Makeup by Kim for bridal makeup and Celeste Jones Photography! Happy Wedding Wednesday everyone! I'm going to keep this short but wanted to share new content that is very special to me. I began The Intimate Wedding Collection in 2016. I believe in love first and believe a couple should be able to celebrate their love anyway they want. I came up with the Intimate Wedding when I had a client cancel her wedding due to unexpected financial obligations. I quickly realized if I had a collection that included the wedding fundamentals, maybe she wouldn't have canceled her event. So I sat down and came up with a list of wedding essentials. Some of them included venue, officiant, catering and a cake! These are the things that are most important to pull off a wedding. Yes, I will tell you, everything else you see online and in magazines, are desired details. I love details but sometimes all you really need to do is keep it sweet and simple. Nothing fancy, just you, your love and a few family and friends. The Intimate Wedding is proudly held at the Hilton Christiana in Newark, DE and pending a second location also in Newark, DE. This collection includes the essentials I mentioned plus more! You can have your choice of linens, florals, wedding cake design, lighting, creative seating and even music. If you think this is an option you would like to consider, please contact us for a free consultation. We'll go over all the possible personalizations to make your Intimate Wedding special. Availability is scheduled Monday- Thursday from 11am-2pm for afternoon brunch/lunch or 5pm-8pm for evening dinner. Fridays and Saturdays can be booked upon availability of all partners. Shoot venue: Hilton Christiana Shoot photo: See it First, Quentin Perry This summer I achieved one of my biggest business goals, actually, it was a few goals all wrapped in one. I planned and executed my first same sex wedding. It was also my first destination and beach wedding. Whittley and Danielle were an absolute joy to work with. Whittley was a bubbly bride with all the nerves that come with "bubbly". Danielle was her calming other half. Whittley and Danielle are from Atlanta, GA by wanted a in intimate beach ceremony with their closest friends and family. They would eventually decide on the beautiful Palmetto Dunes Resort in Hilton Head, SC for their nuptials. Here's a peek into their special day. "Love isn't something you find. Love is something that finds you. "- Loretta Young This summer's weather really put up a fight for my brides and grooms. It rained on all of their weddings but I like to believe they were special blessings for them to start their new journeys. The rain had stopped long enough for the Hilton Head 'I dos' but left behind a windy sand storm. With their bridal party and courageous wedding guests, Whittley and Danielle became Mrs. and Mrs. Richardson. No matter the storm, I know these two ladies, can withstand anything. They have an unbreakable bond, make for a great team and have an awesome support system. "Love is a force more formidable than any other. It is invisible — it cannot be seen or measured, yet it is powerful enough to transform you in a moment, and offer you more joy than any material possession could." — Barbara de Angelis Wishing all the best to Mrs. and Mrs. Danielle Richardson! Tiffaney and Sean were a total match for each other. Tiffaney was a dreamy bride to be and Sean was the groom we all wish to have, encouraging his bride to do whatever would make her happy. Their romantic nuptials took place at the beautiful Mendenhall Inn in Mendenhall, PA. The day started out as one of the most beautiful summer days we had this year. And even though the rain came just minutes before the ceremony could begin, it didn't take away from one of the most romantic weddings I have ever worked. Tiffaney and Sean were one of the most loving couples I have ever worked with. Their love shined throughout the entire day. We started with an early afternoon First Look Shoot at the beautiful Longwood Gardens. There they would get some alone time before the ceremony and get rid of any jitters together. After the private photoshoot, we headed back to the Mendenhall for touch up make up, bridal party pictures and finish setting up for ceremony and reception. It was a busy day for sure but it was one of the most beautiful weddings I had ever accomplished. So yea, remember that rain I mentioned? Yep, it happens. Just minutes before the bridal party could get down the aisle, tiny droplets of rain began to hit the ground. No bride is ever happy when this happens but with encouragement for her planner, groom and officiant, the show went on in the reception space. Tears turned into smiles and a Mr. and Mrs. Sean Henry entered the world. All was well for the rest of the night. It was an evening filled with love, laughter and family; a time these two will never forget. The wonderful vendors that put together this beautiful wedding day:

Not only was I the planner but I was also a bridesmaid. I treat all of my weddings like they're my own special day but this one was extra special. It was my first best friend's wedding, my cousin Simone. She wanted an elegant affair with lots of dancing and good vibes. Family was the center of this 142 guest event and love and laughter filled the air all night. This beautiful event would not have happened without a great team. Ceremony: Mt. Simone and Josh's ceremony took place at the Mt. Pleasant Meeting House in Wilmington, DE. The couple and their bridal party were surrounded by love and cheers as they came down the aisle. Their crowd was different. It wasn't the traditional silent aw on the parade of beauty. The bridal party was shown just as much excitement as if we all were getting married that day. Eat, Drink and Be Married! These two really took in their moment. Even with a yucky rainy day, you would never know. They kept their smiles all day long. Who's ready to dance? By the time we reached the Executive Banquet and Conference Center, we all were ready to party. The new Mr. and Mrs. were dancing the minute they got out of the limo. Being the planner, I knew the night was filled with surprises. One being a special dance for the groom. Half the bridal party were her dance sisters so of course we cheered her on. I'm not so sure Josh was ready for Simone's moves. But he had something up his sleeve for her too. For a brief moment, the reception turned into a dance battle between the Mrs., the Groom and his groomsmen. It was a stellar night for the young couple. A night they will cherish forever.
It's been a while and so much has happened! I have returned to the Delaware from Charleston, SC, I'm moved into a new house, and now my love of 8 years and I are getting married! I must admit it's a little different on this side of the wedding industry. Now, I can shop, taste, and visit for myself. How'd he do it, you ask?
It was Easter weekend. We planned for a little getaway to our favorite city, Washington D.C. We stayed at the chic Hotel Palomar, just a few blocks from DuPont Circle. We arrived later dinner time and we had just enough time to decompress and pick a spot for dinner. We ended up at a Turkish restaurant about 8:30pm; you can't go to D.C. and not try something new. But on this night, we didn't have much time for admiration. We needed to eat and dodge. After an hour had passed, I had to hail an Uber, fast, because the Capitol Wheel was closing at 10pm. Now we have driven passed this giant Ferris wheel several hundred times and that night, I would finally be going to see it; I definitely couldn't miss this. Thankfully, our Uber driver flew to Oxon Hill, MD, just minutes outside the city. Like the big kid, I really am, I power walked to the Ferris wheel and made sure we got in line before it closed. We made it. The lights, the water, the boats, all beautiful and romantic. We get in car 11, I believe it was. As we went around I could see even more of the National Harbor. About our second time around, we stopped at the top. I continued to look out the window when I heard my then boyfriend say "are you ready". Well you know what I said and then I turned to look at him. There he was on his knee, in the car, with a gorgeous rose gold diamond ring. I think I went through about 13 different emotions before breaking down. We finally reached the ground and I still felt like I was afloat. For the remainder of the weekend, I was a fiancée in secret. I didn't tell a soul and we made a promise to not post anything to social media for 72 hours. Just long enough to get home to tell our families. We decided we are not jumping into wedding planning right away (sort of). We want to enjoy our engagement season as much as possible because we all know, the planning process goes fast! Some of the things we have talked about so far are things I have already shared on this blog:
Right now, we're venue shopping to lock in a date but after that, we'll take our time to save for the big day that we want. I strongly urge having as many talks as needed so you and your new fiancé can stay on the peaceful and fun path of wedding planning. I plan to share my pre-wedding experiences with you all; from budgeting, dress shopping, etiquette and everything in between. Make sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for blog release days. #ladyinwaiting #gettinghitched #Perrytalesdocometrue Dave and TQ said I Do at The National Society of Colonial Dames of America in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The venue is a 95 year old colonial style building that provides 2 gorgeous gardens, iron gates and a nice sized ballroom perfect for 90 guests or less. David and Taquoya were awesome to work with. Every time we met it was like meeting up with friends. Taquoya was a dreamy bride and Dave wanted to party but together they wanted romance whether they knew it or not. They wanted a memorable event for their family and friends to enjoy. This wedding was very special to me for more than the usual reasons all of my weddings are special. But this was my first fully planned event by Lady in Waiting Services and happened to fall on my company’s 5th year anniversary. I treated this wedding like it was my own. Detail was important and if we could add an orchid to it, do it. The custom welcome sign and matching menu escort cards were done by me. Each guest had their own menu with their name at their seat. At quarter to five, 90 seats began to fill with love and support. Weddings always serve as an opportunity to reunite and come together in love. The excitement began to build and that is when I realized this was it! It was show time! The groom led the way to the start of a beautiful new journey. A special officiant, written vows, a wish lantern ceremony and love were the elements of this tearful and joyous occasion. If time allows it, make sure you get those family photos. This is important if your family members and bridal party live in different states and sometimes time zones. After the tears, it was time to eat, drink and dance! This couple has the most dancing family I have ever seen at a wedding. The dance floor stayed crowded and the music was great all night; at least that’s what I heard one of the catering staff say. I hope for nothing but the best for my anniversary couple. I will miss you guys and it was a pleasure working with you for over a year. For most brides to be, this will be their first time trying on a bridal gown. It is only fair that you would think that your everyday or department store sizes will be the same for your bridal dress. Sorry ladies, that's just not true. The difference between your wedding gown and your Macy's dress are the layers and build of the garments. Most bridal gowns will have no less than four layers: lining, crinoline, boning and the external fabric. When a dress is created it may start out being for a size 10 but after all of the foundation, altering and stitching, the end result could be fitting for 9 1/2. On top of that, you the bride will add a bra or cups, another slip and body foundation. All of this should be accounted for when trying on dresses.
Now that you know bridal sizes and everyday sizes can be two different numbers, how do you know what to get? At your bridal appointment you'll be asked for your everyday size. This will help your consultant get an idea of what you could be in a gown. You could very well fit a gown that is in your everyday size but this depends on variables such as body shape, dress shape, and foundation. Here's a secret ladies, each designer uses their own size chart! Why is that a big deal? Well, if you're the type to focus on size and numbers, you'll find that no one gown is made the same. View the size charts below from Allure Bridals, Watters Wtoo and look at the measurements for a size 10 gown. You'll notice there is a 2 inch difference in bust and waist. According to the chart, a size 10 in Allure is equal to size 6 in Wtoo. So you see, your dress size also depends on the designer. As I have said before, a size is just a number. The goal at your dress appointment is to find the look you want regardless the size you need to order. If you are interested in a personal shopping experience with a veteran consultant, please fill out our contact form and inquire about our Shopping and Styling package. We can take all of the wondering and anxiety out of the experience so you can have fun putting on a show for your entourage. Happy Wedding Wednesday everyone! I've been on a short hiatus but I really wanted to take this time to share what I've been working on. So, I recently came up with a new wedding package called The Intimate Wedding. It is a package I am running for all wanted Summer '16 weddings! If you're looking to say your 'I dos' this season, you may want to continue reading this blog.
What is The Intimate Wedding? The Intimate Wedding is a shortened and sweetened wedding day for the couple with a small group of family and friends and does not need a big wedding to celebrate their new union. This package also gives engaged couples a new option to consider for the wedding planning process. Maybe you want more than a City Hall ceremony but not the stress of planning. I have come up with a stress free celebration where all you need to do is make a few decisions on colors, food and cake flavor. Where this does not include the traditional dance party that follows most weddings, all couples will have a beautiful ceremony and catering for up to 28 additional guests. All couples have the option to upgrade all aspects of The Intimate Wedding including number of guests. The purpose of this package is to also keep the spending down; upgrading any set aspect of The Intimate Wedding will of course increase the intended budget. What does The Intimate Wedding include? The Intimate Wedding includes: outdoor ceremony location, tables and chairs, linens, centerpieces, 2 bouquets, 2 boutonnieres, catering, wedding cake and a talented, professional, local photographer. Who would love to have an Intimate Wedding? The Intimate Wedding is best for couples of all ages who have a small circle of people who matter most when it's time to say their vows. Couples who don't want a large wedding but still want something nice to commemorate the special day would also love The Intimate Wedding. This package could be used for vow renewals and elopements. It is purposely budget friendly to fit couples with no children or a ready made family. When can you book The Intimate Wedding? You can book an Intimate Wedding starting Monday, May 9th! Intimate Weddings will be offered on Wedding Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. You may inquire about Saturdays but will have to be on an availability basis during the busy wedding season. There are two time slots to pick from when selecting your date, 11am-2pm or 5pm-8pm. You can opt for an afternoon ceremony for a catered lunch or you may go with an evening ceremony for a catered dinner; it may also work better with your guests' work schedule. It is best to plan for The Intimate Wedding at least 2 weeks in advance to secure location, participating vendors and that your guests can make it to your special day. While this new package is pretty much set, there is plenty of space for customization. If this is sounds like something you would be interested, email me all of your questions now! At this time, The Intimate Wedding is available for Delaware engaged couples only. Now go find your Carrie Bradshaw wedding suit and meet me at the top of the aisle. |
